Sightings in 2008 The following butterfly species (those in bold) have been seen in Berks County, Pennsylvania in 2008. There have been records of 108 species seen in Berks County. The list below includes all those reported from 2003 through 2007 plus any new in 2008, a total of 85 species. Species in red have been added to the list this year, meaning there were no known sightings from 2003 - 2007. No doubt other species
will be present, but not seen. Some of the 108 species are historical records
and many are of strays not often found in the county. Ninety seven of the
one hundred eight species are known to have been seen in the past 40 years.
Three species were added in 2008.
